This coat is made from a depression-era quilt with colorful feedsack pieces and bright yellow edging and lining. The original quilt is hand-pieced and hand-quilted. I was fortunate to be able to preserve the original backing of the quilt (no stains or rips) so the interior lining of the coat reflects the maker's fabric choices, it is yellow with a small print. The Dresden Plate quilt pattern became popular in the 1930's, and the use of colorful American feedsack fabrics really ties this coat to its time period. The coat has straight sides and a collar, with inset side pockets. The batting is flannel, so the coat is lightweight and perfect for a spring day.
