By profession, I write and illustrate picture books but I have always loved sewing.
During and after college, as I was developing my book career, I nurtured my love for sewing in my spare time by working in theatre and dance costume shops. You can see some of that work here. Over the years, I dreamed of making my own creations to sell. I collected beautiful antique linens from local garage and estate sales, and whenever I traveled I picked up interesting fabrics -- all with this dream in mind. The locked down days of 2020 helped me turn my attention to my own apparel designs. My Etsy shop is my little gallery where I can share my sewing with the public and finally start playing with the vintage and global textiles I've been stashing away. |
Feedsack ClothingIt's easy to fall in love with the bold graphics of vintage feedsacks. Before 1960, animal feed was packaged in soft cotton sacks. I came into a bunch of these and am making all kinds of fun clothes out of them.

Apron SkirtsSkirts made out of vintage aprons are one of my favorite things to make. The pretty cotton fabrics are so light and lovely! It is very fun to mix and match them for a bright skirt.

Quilt CoatsNothing is cozier in cold weather than a beautiful vintage quilt -- except maybe a coat made out of one. I love to bring old quilts back to life by designing a one-of-a-kind garment.
